[edit] Welcome to Wikia Search!

Welcome!
Welcome!

Hello Fred Bauder! Welcome to the wiki and thanks for taking an interest in Wikia Search! This wiki is used for creating MiniArticles which we hope will provide useful content and context to searchers.

Find out what others are adding on the new pages list.

If you have any questions, please ask on the mailing list or forums.

Wikia is more than a project to develop a search engine. We also have 4000 wikis which you can explore via our hubs. If the topic you're passionate about isn't there, you can request a new wiki.

I'm really happy to have you here, and look forward to working with you!

[edit] Edits

I've noticed all the work you've been putting into sprucing up mini articles, it is most appreciated. :) --CharitwoTalk 07:48, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Joseph Smith

Good edit on Joseph Smith. Your suggestion on searching other Joseph Smiths was a good idea.199.46.245.230 16:03, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fred Bauder page

re the deletion of this page. Jimbo has now restored the page for the community to review my actions and use it to help to form a new policy on what should or shouldnt have been deleted. I would also like to appologise as it looks (on review) that i was probably a little harsh in deleting (but i did move it to the talk page which i thought was more appropriate) and i would like to apologise for this. thanks and sorry --Markie 22:26, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Renaming Categories

You edited the category Copmputers to be sorted under category Technology instead of Technologies. That's not bad. But remember when you want to rename a category you have to sort all the sub-pages under that new category, link the new category up to other categories and finally delete the old category page (use {{delete|reason}} for this). [edit] Thank you for watching the languagelinks.

They are working now :) Simone

Do you know Mini:Luke Lanphear? Is there a reason you deleted the article and photo of him? I happen to know him and uploaded his photo. Curious why you would delete something without any reason?

[edit] Wizz air

Thanks for all these links, Frank. I purposely had left them out for the time being as I am in the process of developing specific mini articles on travel destinations, starting with Europe, then European countries, then holiday destinations, etc., etc. You have probably noticed I have already covered several airports, low-cost airlines and, to some extent, tourism. I also preferred to link to route maps or destination pages for the airlines as I believe most people wanting an overall view would do best to start there. The home pages of airlines are often confusing unless you already know something about them. And BTW, I've solved the dreadful problem of the (still not fuctioning) REDIRECT by using the curly parentheses around the basic mini for variants (see for example wizzair (edit)). This works fine. I'm still not covering all the uppper/lower case variants as I very much hope, these will be handled by Wikia Search in the not-too-distant future. Careful with your keyword links on multiword terms. If you want a mini on Central Europe you need either to use double square brackets or an underscore on the keyword, otherwise you get Central+Europe. Keep up the good work.--Ipigott 08:01, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Using This Site to Promote Your Religion

"Hi, I think you misunderstand the purpose of the examples on search:Canonical site. They are not given for the purpose of supporting the Mormon religion, but to illustrate a site which has a great deal of information regarding a subject. The sites you substitute are not of that nature. Fred 15:17, 6 February 2008 (UTC)"

I'm not saying your mormon church example websites do not contain a great deal of information on the subject. My point, which you are intentionally ignoring, is that your example websites DO support the mormon religion, given that they were created by members of the mormon religion. So by including links to websites that support and obviously promote the mormon religion you are exploiting Wikia Search to proselytize to whoever should click on search:Canonical site. If you do insist on including a controversial subject (which is not needed for the purposes of that page) then for goodness sake allow for the inclusion of an informative site with a different view on the subject.
Find a decent one and put it in. By the way, I am not promoting Mormonism. It only seems that way to you. It is simply something which came to mind. The reason they are canonical sites is because those who are Mormons have put a lot of work into them. Fred Talk 21:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
