Community Portal This is the Community Portal of Search Wikia, which is the wiki to implement an editable open content free search engine. Yes, you can help! Either as a developer or a wiki editor. Please see below. You can ask questions at the forum or talk to one of the site admins if you need specific help. Wikia Search is really at its beginning: the roadmap for the future of the search engine is still under discussion. So don't be surprised if things are not well organized right know. Join us to do it!

How you can help!

Developers

• Join the mailing list.
• List yourself on the developers' page.
• Get in contact with Jimbo.
• Add your knowledge and ideas as new articles to this site, or discuss on the forums.
• In addition, we might announce IRC meetings sometime in the future.
• Lab Servers available for learning, experimenting, and developing on.

Wiki Editors

At first, we need basic articles about search engine related issues on this site, see e.g. Google, Nutch or SEO for some beginnings.

• Wanted: different search engines, relevant software, terminology, etc. See wanted pages for a list.
• Such texts should be written in own your words and should be rather short in wording. If possible, concentrate on the technical side of information.
• Instead of copying, and to that effect duplicating, Wikipedia articles, we prefer using the "wp" link template as it shows up on this page. You can easily add such links by typing e.g. {{wp|Google}} to add a prominent link to Wikipedia's article about Google.

This wiki's help may need some additions regarding specific pages for this wiki later on.

Wikia search is governed by its users. Please assist in formulating policy at Search:Policies and guidelines.

• Atlas - Atlas is a WAIS kind of architecture enabling search to become a part of the Internet's infrastructure.
• Strobili - Strobili is a new concept of creating and organizing virtual content. It can be applied to search engines as well as to other things

You can help improve ease of use by:

• Adding a category to pages that lack one.
• Listing or linking other ideas and comments to the pages listed under "Defining the vision."
