search:Policies and guidelines
This page serves as an entrance to policies and guidelines of this wiki.
Many of the policies and guidelines listed here are provisional or customary in the wiki community, and not yet set forth adequately and explicitly on project pages as policies and guidelines.
Your help is solicited in formulating and documenting policies and guidelines as they evolve through the process of consensus decision making by our users. Wikia Search is governed by its users. Please participate in the formulation of policies and guidelines.
In some cases, policies and guidelines used on Wikipedia such as Wikipedia:Assume good faith can appropriately be adapted for use on Search Wikia.
Venues for discussion and formulation of policy include the Forums, the mailing lists and the talk pages of project pages, especially search talk:Policies and guidelines.

[edit] The Four Organizing Principles
In formulating and applying policies and guidelines, keep in mind the Four Organizing Principles of Wikia Search: Transparency, Community, Quality, and Privacy (TCQP). In our opinion, the future of Internet Search should be based on them:
- Transparency - Openness in how the project, the systems and algorithms operate, in the form of open source, open content (including documentation and process documentation), and open interfaces (APIs and protocols).
- Community - Everyone is able to contribute in some way (as individuals or entire organizations), strong social and community focus.
- Quality - Significantly improve the relevancy and accuracy of search results and the searching experience.
- Privacy - Must be protected, do not store or transmit any identifying data.
